Princeton University Art Museum opens the final exhibition of "Cézanne and the Modern" tour

October 10, 2015 - 1:45pm

After record-breaking attendance at museums in four countries, "Cézanne and the Modern" lands at Princeton University Art Museum as its final stop, on view through January, 2016. The Ashmolean in England (Oxford), Musée Granet in France (Aix-en-Provence), the High Museum in the U.S.  (Atlanta) and the Vancouver Art Gallery in Canada (Vancouver) have hosted this exhibition to critical acclaim and public embrace over the past 18 months.

As part of the Museum's "Nassau Street Sampler," more than 2500 students and family attended a preview of the exhibition prior to the official opening, putting it on a path to exceed half a million viewers over the course of the tour. Opening weekend events included a workshop in color mixing and plein-air painting by members of the Atelier Marchutz from Aix-en-Provence, a lecture by Bridget Alsdorf and a conversation "In the footsteps of Cézanne" including members of the Pearlman family.
